Brad Pitt proudly showed off his new gift from his leading lady Angelina Jolie - a diamond pendant engraved with a microscopic love message.
The Hollywood star, 47, touched down at Los Angeles International airport yesterday looking dapper and handsome.
Wearing a black t-shirt, black leather jacket, flat cap and dark glasses, the actor looked in good spirits and smiled at the waiting cameras.
Jolie has swapped ghoulish blood phials with her ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton, which they wore around each other's neck.
But now that she is a respectable mother of six she has come up with an unusual necklace for her current love and father of her children.
She commissioned London-based jeweller Robert Procop to make a diamond pendant for him — worth a hefty six-figure sum — engraved with a note that is not visible to the naked eye.
Exactly what Angelina, 35, has written in her billet doux is a secret.
Procop said: ‘I can’t tell you what it says, and you would need a microscope to read it.’
The pendant is based on Ancient Egyptian amulets that contained hidden messages.
Procop was this week guest-of-honour at a party in Mayfair, London to mark his appointment as editor of the book Famous Diamonds, a new edition of which is out next year.
‘The technology is quite new,’ he adds. ‘The hidden message is lasered on.’
A close friend of Jolie, Procop is also going into business with her, designing a jewellery range called The Style Of Jolie.

Top 10 Breast-Feeding Controversies - The Angelina Jolie Breast-Feeding Statue
It was only a matter of time before someone produced a sculpture of Angelina Jolie naked. But naked and nursing? And how about a naked Jolie nursing twins? In 2009, sculptor Daniel Edwards took it upon himself to depict Jolie seated while feeding twin infants simultaneously for an odd-looking work entitled Landmark for Breastfeeding. The New York–based artist favors celebrity subjects, including a much publicized sculpture of Britney Spears giving birth nude, which he described as "pro-life." Edwards chose a gallery in Norman, Okla., not far from Brad Pitt's birthplace, to unveil the statue. Local art dealer Cory Allen said at the time that he was in discussions with officials in Oklahoma City and Edmond, Okla., about displaying the work in a public park. No word yet on whether either city has accepted the donation.
Edwards says the sculpture was originally inspired by W magazine's 2008 cover of Jolie nursing one of her newborn twins, Vivienne and Knox. And while that image of Jolie was widely welcomed by breast-feeding advocates, it's not entirely clear whether the grim-looking Jolie statue would inspire an increase in nursing.

Brad Pitt's Parents Are Moving with the Jolie-Pitt family in France
Brad Pitt's parents are moving in with his family. Jane and Bill Pitt are set to move from the Midwest of the USA to France where they will spend endless amounts of time with their six grandchildren.
A source says:
"The whole family is going to move there as soon as the renovations are done. At the moment they have six nannies – one for each of the kids – and the plan is to get rid of the helpers and rely on Bill and Jane."
We think that is a MUCH better idea to have family, not paid help, raise the kids.
Apparently, the star couple is tired of carting around their entire family whenever they are working, so they have made the decision to settle down, as a source explains:
"Brad is traditional and wants them to put down roots and have friends and go to the same school, rather than constantly moving. "
The move is a little bit surprising as many people thought that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie wanted privacy and really wanted to just be alone with their children (and their several nannies). It's a great move to have grandma and grandpa Pitt move in because every child deserves to have the love and attention from a grandparent. Also, the children will be able to spend more time with family and less time with hired help which is also a plus.

Brad Pitt jets off to France to renovate the £35m French château he and Angelina Jolie plan to call home
He's been by his wife's side as she promoted her film The Tourist for the past few months.
But now Brad Pitt will leave Angelina Jolie in Los Angeles as he jets to France to work on the couple's £35m château.
The Hollywood star and architectural enthusiast plans to oversee major renovations that are taking place at the sprawling property he and Angelina own in Provence.
The couple obtained a building permit in 2009 to renovate the estate and now it looks like their plans are coming to fruition.
The property, named Château Miraval, is situated in Provence and classified as a Historic Monument.
It is located in a tiny village called Brignoles, not far from the city of Aix-en-Provence.
It was back in 2009 that plans for work on the château were revealed when it was said that the couple wanted to add to the estate to give it a more 'contemporary feel'.
Their wish-list includes hot tubs, steam rooms and a spa, as well as a new gym and a larger wine cellar.
Brad - who is also a motorcycle enthusiast - is even said to to want to build a motorbike track.
Security is also high on the list of improvements. The couple want to install a surveillance centre, spy cameras, alarms, and infra-red sensors.
And while the property already has a helicopter landing - the two keen pilots also want to improve those facilities.
At least Brad and Angelina didn't need to worry about getting their plans approved by the local council.
The mayor of the nearby town of Correns, promptly sided with the pair when it came to the grand plans.
At the time he said: 'The application has been received for widespread work on their new house, and we are delighted that they will be here more permanently. They are a wonderful couple with beautiful children and we will hold a civic reception to honour them.'
he 35-bedroom residence comes complete with it's private vineyard, moat, lake and forest.
There is also a lake, swimming pool, fountains and fields surrounded by a huge forest to give the couple and their children Maddox, nine, Pax, seven, Zahara, six and Shiloh, four, and two-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne privacy.
The estate is surrounded by water with twenty fountains, aqua-ducts and a stream that runs through hidden tunnels and into the moat, which fills the lake.
Situated at an altitude of 1150 ft, and spanning 1000 acres, 75 acres are devoted to vines, which provide wine for a successful vineyard.

Angelina Jolie should go to Israel, says dad Jon Voight
Angelina Jolie’s father has expressed his desire for his daughter to visit Israel.
Actor Jon Voight, a prominent Republican supporter who is in Israel with former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee this week, said he would “love to see” the Tomb Raider star tour Israel.
He said: “That would be a nice thing.”
Mr Voight, 72, the star of Midnight Cowboy, admitted he did not know his daughter’s views on the Middle East. The two were estranged for many years, but have been back in touch over the last year.
But he said she was well aware of his "affection for Israel and the Jewish people.”
Ms Jolie, whose partner is actor Brad Pitt, once revealed the couple kept a Torah scroll in their house, as part of a mission to expose their children to all different religions.
Mr Voight and Mr Huckabee visited east Jerusalem yesterday for a ceremony marking the development of a new neighborhood.
Mr Voight, who is not-Jewish but is a vocal supporter of Israel and of the Lubavitch organisation, for which he fronts a yearly telethon fundraiser in California, said: "I'm very honoured to be here and very proud to be with all of you who have stood for justice and the legacy of…the Jewish people."
Mr Huckabee, a Fox News presenter who is the former governor of Arkansas, said: "It is inconceivable in many ways that we have to argue and debate whether Israelis can live in Israel -- not just in parts of Israel, but anywhere in Israel they wish to live.”

Angielina Jolie and Brad Pitt go on a fun-filled date to Hollywood hot spot The Spare Room
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt left their brood at home and went out for a night on the town on Jan. 26. They hit up The Spare Room at The Roosevelt Hotel, a new bar/restaurant that just opened Jan. 5, and had plenty of games to entertain them.
The Spare Room is a nod back to the 1920s and has two bowling lanes, backgammon tables, board games and classic cocktails. The space is unique — it feels like an original room in the hotel that was discovered when a wall was knocked down.
